Vohra P, Kratzer FH. Influence of various chelating agents on the availability of zinc. J Nutr. 1964; 82:249-256. (NA34) [In feeding trials with turkey poults given a Zn-deficient diet 28 compounds, al chelating agents with stability constants for Zn ranging from 5.3 to 18.8, were tested. In each trial control groups received the basal diet, or the basal diet supplemented with 15 mg Zn or 200 mg, 0.684 mmole, ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) per kg and other groups were given the basal diet with supplements of other chelating agents in amounts equimolar with EDTA. Each trial lasted about 20 days. Compounds with a stability constant for Zn of 13 to 17 seemed to be about equal for growth.]
