(NA34) [For part 1 see J. Nara Med. Assoc., 1963, 14, 4. 2. Rats received 45Ca, 100 mc by subcutaneous injection, and were killed 14 days later; urine and faeces were collected for the last 2 days. Specific activity of bone was diminished and that of urine ad faeces increased by giving 3% ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (?Na salt) solution as drinking water, or by giving vitamin D, 5 intramuscular injections each of 30,000 "units" on alternate days, and still more by both treatments. Similar results were obtained in rats killed 150 days after subcutaneous injection of 100 mc 90Sr and treated during the last 2 weeks of life.]
