Greene DE, Rinehart KE, Stephenson EL. Influence of EDTA on blood antibiotic levels following oral administration of tetracycline compounds. Poultry Sci. 1968; 47(5):1500-1504. (CA70) [EDTA added to a practical broiler starting ration contg. 0.8% Ca significantly increased the levels of oxytetracycline and chlortetracycline in the blood of 28-day-old chickens following oral administration of these antibiotics. EDTA at a 0.5% dietary level increased the blood antibiotic levels by ~2-fold and depressed wt. gain significantly when fed continuously for 7 or 21 days. Growth depression was partially alleviated by increasing the amt. of Mn and Zn in the diet.]
