Berti T, Ferrari M. Anti-spirochetic action of hydrosoluble organic compounds of bismuth. I. Infections from Borrelia duttonii in mice. Boll. ist. sieroterap. Milan. 1959; 38:318-323. (CA54:3710g) [Six H2O-sol. org. compds. contg. Bi were studied in exptl. infection from B. duttonii in mice. Subcutaneously injected, 5 showed strong activity. Bi Na pyrocatecholdi-sulfonate complex and a Bi Na tartrate remove al the spirochetes from the blood. Orally only Bi Na tartrate and Bi EDTA how strong activity. The above results are compared with the behavior of the compds. toward several reagents. The activity seems to be related to the grade of masking of the metal in the complexes.]
