Appl. 22 Oct. 1965, 21 pp. (CA70) [A complexing phosphate combined with a chelating agent in a suitable carrier is useful in human and veterinary medicine in preventing or treating lithiasis as well as atherosclerotic plaques in blood vessels or other organs. For example, equal parts of N-(2-hydroxyethy) ethylenediaminetriacetic acid, Na tripolyphosphate or Na hexametaphosphate and carboxymethyl cellulose in a dose of 1 g. with each meal prevented increase in the size of a kidney stone. The same dosage in another subject lowered blood cholesterol from 400-500mg.% to 283 mg.% in 3 weeks.]
