Taucin EJ, Svilane ABV. Effect of EDTA and chlortetracycline on assimilation of trace elements by chickens. Fiziologiceski aktivnye komponenty pitanija zivotnyh. 1969; 163-170 Russian. (NA41) Chickens were in 12 groups of 19 or 20 given a practical ration without or with supplements of Co, Cu, Mn and Zn at 3 different levels, each level without or with EDTA 300 mg per kg feed or chlortetracycline 200 mg per kg feed. The trace element supplements did not significantly affect weight gains. EDTA increased the deposition of Zn in the liver, slightly increased that of Fe and Co and reduced that of Mn. Chlortetracycline increased storage of Zn and Co and to some extent that of both Fe and Mn. Both substances increased liver vitamin A and serum Ca.
