Rodriguez A. Substances that potentiate the absorption of vitamin B12 administered orally. Anales Inst. Farmacol. Espan. 1961; 9-10, 57-61. (CA61:2373a) [Ten normal adults were given 10 g vitamin B12 in 10% alc. soln., alone, or mixed with 20% D-sorbitol, 0.2% EDTA, or 20% glucosamine. Vitamin B12 was extd. from blood and detd. microbiol., using Lactobacillus leichmannii. All 3 substances increased vitamin absorption to the following extents: EDTA 66.6%, D-sorbitol 58%, and glucosamine 33.3%
