Mission

The Arizona Biological Research Institute and Foundation is dedicated to developing a unique approach to comprehensive biological health care.  Our vision is three fold:

A.) To support research in the areas of immune enhancement, degenerative diseases and cardiovascular disorders;

B.) To produce and provide biological products from this and other research to enhance human health; and

C.) To establish a clinical environment that serves as a place of regeneration and inspiration, where people are provided with the tools and direction to undergo the transformative process that is  required for all true healing.

Introduction

There is a dire need for some viable, effective, practical answers to our global health problems.  Billions of dollars are spent in research, evaluation, and treatment, but to date, medicine can boast few interventive/preventive strategies and cures for the multitudes of degenerative diseases and conditions to which over 80% of the population will eventually succumb.

The health provision system has fallen out of balance.  While most health care providers would agree that good health is without question our most valued possession, very few view the patient and the doctor as partners in the healing process.  Too many providers have forgotten that illness is not a natural state.  Providers have grown dependent on pyramid strategies and stop-gap care health procedures which “suspend” symptoms but do nothing for curing the disease.

It is important to recognize the term “disease” is a state of being “out of ease” with one’s own natural energy.  Our energy is misdirected and out of balance in the three spheres of our life- Spiritual, Mental, and Physical.  Current medicine dedicates nearly all of its time and effort to the craft of “healing” the physical or physiological.  This singular sighted dedication has created a separation from the mental and spiritual spheres.  Because of the lack of investment by the health care provider in the treatment of the mental and spiritual sphere, too often the very patients they are trying to help become anxious and distrustful of treatment, experience treatment related frustration and/or depression, and detachment from their provider.  It has been shown in countless studies the value of the quality patient interaction as well as patient investment into treatment regimes.  It has been shown in countless studies that basic belief by the patient in the treatment he or she is receiving directly correlates with the success or failure of that treatment – yet somehow, modern medicine continues to accentuate the physical while devaluating the mental and spiritual aspects of healing.

The Arizona Biological Research Institute and Foundation

The Arizona Biological Research Institute is dedicated to developing a unique approach to comprehensive biological health care by supporting clinical and sample based epidemiological research in the areas of immune enhancement, degenerative diseases and cardiovascular disorders, and produce and provide biological products from this and other research to enhance human health.

The Arizona Biological Research Institute is dedicated to establishing a clinical facility to implement treatment and provide the tools and direction for patients to undergo the transformative  process in healing by using leading edge modalities developed by the “Foundation” and other world wide research. The Institute will make these methods of evaluation and treatment available  to the public.

The Role of the Foundation

The Foundation will fund and provide philanthropic and tax advantages to unique research for scientific investigation in immune related diseases such as autoimmune disorders, immune system of coagulation disorders and cancer, utilizing biological approaches.  Funding will include research done by the Foundation along with leading researchers/scientists throughout the world.

Through our vision, the Foundation will advance biological medicine in an effort to provide critical opportunities in the advancement of medicine.

The Mission in Action – A Paradigm Shift in Preventing the Onset or Advance of Cancer

Scientists now project that by the year 2005, one of every two people will develop cancer within their life span. Currently, 42% of Americans will develop cancer in their lifetime.  Cancer is the leading cause of death in Alaska and Massachusetts while it is the 2nd leading cause of death in all other states. Cancer treatment is the most expensive method of treatment at 110 million dollars per year.  Five percent of the population treated for cancer utilize 12% of the ready, medical expenses.

The statistics since the “War on Cancer” was declared in the 1970’s are alarming;

·        One million four hundred thousand cancers are diagnosed yearly, excluding the 800,000 with skin cancer.

·        Both mortality and prolonged morbidity have increased, with no significant change in the overall 5 year survival rate.

·        A 120% increase in the incidence in breast cancer since 1960.

·        Globally, cancer crisis fares no better.  In 1900, three percent of all deaths were caused by cancer.  Today, 22% of deaths are caused by cancer, and the rate is climbing.

·        The age of onset of many of the epithelial type cancers is alarmingly younger and younger.

·         Statistically, all of these increases are not justified from an increasing population over the age of 65.

Current methods of treatment are of little effect on treatment.  Chemotherapy is effective in only 3% of advanced epithelial cancers. While the failure of  medicine are perhaps well known and need not be repeated extensively here, the attached cover story from the October 11, 1999 U.S. News and World Report underscores the desperation of many cancer patients who are undergoing risky cancer treatments.

A shift in the cancer paradigm must take place to effect these dismal numbers.  A biological approach to first detect cancer at its earliest state followed by the regulation of  the cancer cells and eliminate impedance to self immune regulation is the cornerstone of biological medicine.

Dr. Tsuneo Kobayashi and the Early Cancer Detection Screening Process

To start with we would acquire the methods developed by Tsuneo Kobayashi, MD of Saitama, Japan regarding risk assessment in early cancer detection screening.  He has developed a computerized algorithm in Japanese based upon 11 common blood tests grouped as tumor specific markers, tumor associated markers and growth related tumor markers¹. To these 11 blood tests, he improved the quality control in order to obtain a more sensitive panel.

Dr. Kobayashi is willing to share his methods in the United States providing that his methods are duplicated accurately. A group of five physicians (Dr.’s Frank George, Thomas Lodi, Garry Gordon, James Chan, and Hayle Aldren) have approached him, with a few of these physicians having  visited  with him at the Asia Medical Center.

When Dr. Kobayashi  learned of  President  Reagan’s cancerous colon polyp he wrote a letter that was translated and sent to Mrs. Reagan. She forwarded it and it ended up in the hands of staff at the Mayo clinic in Rochester, MN.  They sent Dr. Kobayashi approximately 300 samples of 2ml aliquots of blood from known and controls for colon and initial stage lung cancer.  His typical panel requires 20 ml of blood, yet with 2 ml he was able to detect cancer by blood and algorithm analysis with 87.5% accuracy.  He states that when he can get 20ml of blood even without patient information such as gender, age, habits, etc. and run the data through the computerized algorithm, he comes up with a 80-85% accuracy for a 0.5 to 2 cm neoplasm on the first test with more accuracy with a follow up test within the year since trends and significant changes can be seen.  Accuracy is about 99%  for a neoplasm over 2cm in diameter upon first testing.

Early detection of cancer through  these  innovative methods that are not highly technical, nor excessively costly would be a tremendous paradigm shift in the evaluation of and potential prevention of cancer.

Our initial phase will be to learn and replicate his laboratory techniques in Japan, then apply them in the United States through his interaction by split sample assays.  Once he is comfortable with our accuracy, he is willing to share his algorithm so that we may establish epidemiological applications within the United States.

Our secondary phase will consist of applying some of his methods in deterring cancer formation at a clinically diagnosed level as well as utilizing other natural methods known in the field of biological medicine that include, but are not limited to hyperthermia, mistletoe therapy, fasting, detoxification, nutritional and botanical therapy.

¹ Kobayashi T,  Kawakubo T, Prospective Investigation of Tumor Markers and Risk Assessment in Early Cancer Screening.  CANCER April 1, 1994, Volume 73, No. 7.

Summary of work by Tsuneo Kobayashi, M.D.

Dr. Kobayashi, and oncologist in Saitama, Japan has developed a panel of eleven tumor markers coupled with a computerized algorithm that is useful in the early detection of cancer.

The tumor markers are categorized into three types:

                        I) Tumor Specific Markers

                        II) Tumor Associated Tumor Markers

                        III) Growth Related Tumor Markers

I) Tumor Specific Markers:

            1) CEA

            2) CA 19-9

            3) heat-stable alkaline phosphatase

            4) tissue polypeptide antigen

II) Tumor Associated Tumor Markers:

            1) serum ferritin

            2) ferritin/serum iron ratio

            3) immunosuppressive acidic protein

4) alpha 1 globulin fraction

            5) sialic acid

III) Growth Related Tumor Markers:

            1) alkaline phosphatase isoenzymes

            2) ribonuclease

Dr. Kobayashi has not only refined the sensitivity and range of the normal values of these markers, but has weighted there level of importance and interrelationship as a pattern recognition for 5 tumor stages.

                        I)          Tumor free

                        II)         Precancer

                        III)        Precancer

                        IV)       Preclinical cancer

V)                Suggestive of cancer weighing over 1 gram

This tumor classification can adequately assess the risk of cancer developing in apparently healthy persons.

Through interpreters, we have learned that Dr. Kobayashi has kept approximately 15,000 patients cancer and free over an 18 year duration, by implementing primarily natural methods of treatment during stages IV & V.

Dr. Kobayashi is willing to share this methodology and algorithm with us provided we adhere to his meticulous laboratory techniques.
